West Village Garden

Judith Heintz and Diana Drake worked with the owner of a townhouse in the West Village to design this tiny garden just 17 feet square.  The design includes a deck built over a large window well and stairs both of which are structural glass supported by a stainless steel structure, allowing light to infiltrate to the lower level of the house.  At the base of the stairs is a small lily pond which is replenished with water that spills from a copper runnel running the length of the deck and sitting on the coping of the window well.  Cedar and stainless steel screens attached to an existing stucco wall surround bluestone paving and plantings of trees, shrubs, ferns and wildflowers.
