Hunter's Point South

When complete, Hunter’s Point South will establish a new face to the eastern edge of the East
River Waterfront. By pulling the urban fabric of Queens to a new waterfront park and marking the
skyline with towers, this project will establish a new neighborhood within New York City. Located
at the juncture of Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn, it will celebrate all of their energy and
dynamism as a beacon of sustainability and diversity.

It also will cap a whole series of new waterfront parks and development along the East River.
The open space plan and network of bicycle paths are key components of the overall plan for the
site. WRT (Judith Heintz and Napat Sitisara) worked with FXFowle and Langan Engineering to create a hierarchy of streets and bike lanes and a variety of open space types that accommodate both active and passive recreation, neighborhood play areas, gardens, gathering spaces and natural areas. The links to
parks north and south contribute to open space and bicycle networks both borough- and city-wide.
